A conversation with one of my little 2nd graders.
Mari: The thing you put on the calendar for next Wednesday, is that celebrating Vegetarian's Day?
Me: No Mari, it's Veteran's Day. Vet-er-an's Day. To remember men and women who fought in wars and are still alive.
Mari: Oh. So when's Vegetarian's Day?
Me: There is no such thing as a Vegetarian's Day.
Mari: Oh. What's vegetarian again?
Me: It's people who don't eat meat. Personally, I find that strange, but if people like that, that's their choice.
Mari: Oh. I'm vegetarian. I don't like meat.
Me: Oh. Well, you're strange. I LOVE meat.
